Long-Term Visit Pass Application

The Long-Term Visit Pass (LTVP) is for the spouse, unmarried child or parent of a Singapore Citizen or Singapore Permanent Resident. The Long-Term Visit Pass is valid for up to 2 years. LTVP holders can also work in Singapore under Letter of Consent (LOC).

Eligibility Criteria to Apply for Long-Term Visit Pass

You will be eligible to apply for a Long-Term Visit Pass if you are a:

  1. Spouse of a Singapore citizen
  2. Spouse of a Singapore permanent resident
  3. Unmarried child (aged under 21) or have been legally adopted by a Singapore Citizen/SPR
  4. Parent of a Singapore citizen or Singapore permanent resident

According to the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA), the following categories of people may also apply for the LTVP:

  1. Graduate from an Institute of Higher Learning seeking employment in Singapore

  2. Mother or Grandmother of a child or grandchild studying in Singapore on a Student’s Pass

  3. Visitor seeking permission to give birth in Singapore

Spouse of Singapore Citizen
  • Passport biodata page
  • Disembarkation/ Embarkation (D/E) number (if applicable).
  • Applicant’s recent passport-sized, digital, colour photograph taken within the last three months.
  • Letter of employment, stating date of commencement, designation and monthly salary (if applicable).
  • For those who are self-employed, a valid registration certificate from the Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority (ACRA) and the company’s Profit and Loss Statement for the past 12 months (if applicable).
  • Payslip for the past 6 months (if applicable)
  • Certificate(s) showing highest level of academic qualification
  • Marriage certificate
  • Divorce certificate(s), if either or both of you have been married before
  • Letter of Long-Term Visit Pass Eligibility (LLE), if applicable.
Spouse of Permanent Resident
  • Passport biodata page
  • Disembarkation/ Embarkation (D/E) number (if applicable).
  • The applicant’s recent passport-sized, digital, color photograph taken within the last three months. 
  • Letter of employment, stating date of commencement, designation and monthly salary (if applicable)

Steps To Apply for Long-Term Visit Pass
Step 1
Consultation with an Expert

Preparation of Documents

Submission of LTVP Application

After you’ve have complied with the necessary documents. We will then submit your application online.

Step 4
Receive the Outcome

Upon approval, an in-principle approval (IPA) letter will be issued. The IPA letter and it is valid for two months from date of issue, and does not equate to being issued an LTVP.

Step 5
Medical Examination

Undergo a medical check-up if it is stated in the IPA letter.

Step 6
Long-Term Visit Pass Formalities

The applicant and the sponsor will need to complete the formalities for the LTVP and collect the LTVP card in person at the ICA Building.

FAQs About Applying For Long-Term Visit Pass

The validity of an LTVP varies depending on the ties to the sponsor, typically ranging from 1 to 2 years for the initial pass.
Renewals may be granted for longer periods (up to 5 years) based on the stability of the family nucleus and the sponsor’s financial standing.

Yes, you can submit an application while in Singapore on a Short-Term Visit Pass (STVP). However, it is advisable to apply early, as the processing time often exceeds the typical 30-day stay of a tourist visa.

You must ensure you have a valid stay throughout the processing period.

The LTVP+ is specifically for foreign spouses of Singapore Citizens who have been married for at least 3 years or have a Singaporean child. It offers longer residency (initially 3 years, then 5 years) and healthcare subsidies similar to Permanent Residents.
Generally, LTVP holders are not allowed to work unless they obtain a Letter of Consent (LOC) (for spouses/children of SC/PR) or a separate Work Pass (EP/SP/WP). LTVP+ holders are eligible for an LOC, making it easier for employers to hire them without quota restrictions.
You should submit a renewal application at least 6 months before the current pass expires. Late renewals may result in a lapse of legal stay, requiring you to leave the country.
Only if an LOC (Letter of Consent) is secured. The LOC will specify the employer and the role. Without a valid work authorization from MOM, any form of employment (including part-time or freelance) is strictly prohibited.
Yes, you can transition to an LTVP/LTVP+. However, your current Work Pass must be cancelled first, or you can apply for an LOC to continue working under your new LTVP status.
While a long stay on an LTVP shows commitment, it does not guarantee PR. The applicant’s personal economic contribution and the sponsor’s ability to support the household remain critical factors in the ICA’s decision.
In the event of death or divorce, the LTVP is usually cancelled. However, if there are Singaporean children involved, the ICA may consider granting an extension or a new pass on a case-by-case basis to allow the parent to care for the children.
No. LTVP holders are considered “International Students” and are charged the corresponding fee rates for government schools, which are higher than those for Citizens and PRs.
