Dependant’s Pass Application

A Singapore Dependant’s Pass (DP) is a visa issued to certain family members of Employment Pass and S Pass holders. It allows them to stay in Singapore for up to 2 years, depending on the validity of the main work pass. Dependant’s Pass holders can also operate a business in Singapore.

DP holders can apply for permanent residence (PR) in Singapore together with the Singapore main work visa holder in due course.

FAQs About Applying For Dependant’s Pass
Yes, Dependant’s Pass holders can work in Singapore if they obtain a valid work pass (such as an Employment Pass or S Pass). Having work experience in Singapore can help strengthen your PR application, as it demonstrates economic contribution and integration. Many applicants improve their PR profile by gaining local work experience before applying.

Yes, Dependant’s Pass holders may be eligible to apply for Singapore Permanent Residency (PR), especially if they have been residing in Singapore for a period of time.

However, PR applications are typically assessed based on the main pass holder’s profile, such as employment stability, income level, and overall contributions in Singapore.

Many families choose to strengthen their profile before applying to improve their chances of approval.

There is no fixed timeline, but most successful applicants typically apply after staying in Singapore for some time and establishing stability (e.g., employment, family, or business presence). Applying too early without a strong profile may result in rejection. Timing your PR application strategically is key to maximizing approval chances.

Holding a Dependant’s Pass does not negatively impact your PR application. In fact, it reflects that you are already part of a family unit residing in Singapore.

That said, approval chances depend on multiple factors, including the main applicant’s employment, income, and integration into Singapore society.

Proper planning and positioning of your application can significantly improve success rates.

A Dependant’s Pass (DP) can be applied for by eligible family members of Employment Pass or S Pass holders in Singapore. This typically includes: -Legally married spouses -Unmarried children under 21 years old (including legally adopted children) Eligibility is subject to the main pass holder meeting the minimum salary requirements set by the authorities.
Yes. If you obtain your own S Pass or Employment Pass, your Dependant’s Pass will generally need to be cancelled. This is because you can only hold one valid pass type at a time under Singapore’s immigration framework.
The validity of a Dependant’s Pass is usually tied to the main pass holder’s work pass. It will typically have the same expiry date as the Employment Pass or S Pass, and can be renewed as long as the main pass remains valid and eligibility criteria are met.

If a Dependant’s Pass application is rejected, applicants may consider submitting an appeal, especially if additional supporting documents can strengthen the case.

Alternatively, other options such as applying for a Long-Term Visit Pass (LTVP) or exploring work pass opportunities may be considered.

👉 It is important to review the reasons for rejection and improve the application before reapplying.

There are several ways to enhance your PR application, including:

-Securing stable employment in Singapore
-Increasing household income level
-Demonstrating long-term commitment to Singapore
-Preparing a well-structured and compelling PR submission

👉 A professionally prepared PR application can make a significant difference in outcomes.
